Call for Papers for the I-KNOW'06 Special Track on Business
Process Oriented Knowledge
Infrastructures (BPOKI'06).

Introduction

The I-KNOW 2006 Special Track on Business Process Oriented Knowledge
Infrastructures is the third
in a series. The event aims to critically discuss new theories,
concepts, ideas, instruments and
systems that address support for knowledge intensive business processes
in organizations.

Background

Knowledge work in organisations becomes increasingly complex,
interdependent and dynamic today.
This development co-occurs with the emergence of sophisticated and
advanced information and
knowledge technologies that promise to make organizations more
efficient. However, the application
of these novel technologies for the effective support of knowledge
workers in organizations is far
from being well understood and a current research topic. The special
track on Business Process
Oriented Knowledge Infrastructures BPOKI?06 aims to address these
challenges by increasing
understanding about knowledge work, knowledge intensive business
processes and technological and
organizational instruments and systems for supporting them. Topics
include but are not limited to:

* Identification and modeling of knowledge work and knowledge intensive
business processes
* Identification and modeling of knowledge workers' context
* Design and development of knowledge intensive business processes and
knowledge infrastructures
* Fundamental technological instruments for business process oriented
knowledge infrastructures
* Categories, performance indexes and concepts for knowledge intensive
business processes
* Support for and improvement of knowledge intensive business processes
* Process- and knowledge reuse in business process oriented knowledge
infrastructures
* Quality and quality attributes (including e.g. flexibility, agility,
usability) in knowledge
intensive business processes and knowledge infrastructures
* Agent-oriented and domain-specific approaches to support for knowledge
intensive business processes
* Theory forming and development for the domain of business process
oriented knowledge infrastructures

Based on these topics, submissions may focus on, but are not limited to:
Semantic Process and
Knowledge Modeling, Workflow Management Systems, Case Based Systems,
Process-Oriented Information
Retrieval, User Context Identification, Process Simulation, -Mining and
-Optimization, Pattern
Identification and Analysis, Agile- and Agent Oriented Systems, Decision
Support Systems and
Knowledge Portals.

Type of Submissions

BPOKI?06 seeks contributions that introduce novel ideas and theories,
conceptual frameworks,
taxonomies and ontologies, technical applications and solutions,
experiences as well critical
arguments and discussions concerning the topics of this special track.

Target Group

The topics mentioned above equally address researchers and
practitioners. BPOKI'06 aims to present
and critically discuss latest work to increase understanding and gain
new insights about the
problem domain. The event will be held in English.
