We are very pleased to announce that Dr. Blackford Middleton will be the
keynote speaker at KNOWLEDGE MANAGEMENT IN THE 21ST CENTURY:  MOVING
FORWARD, SUSTAINING THE MOMENTUM, ASIST's KM Summit 11/16/2002.

Dr. Middleton will discuss the knowledge management innovations at Partners
Healthcare.  Partners' system is detailed in the July 2002 Harvard Business
Review ("Just-in-Time Delivery Comes to Knowledge Management"), and
incorporates some truly interesting KM techniques.  One is to "'bake'
specialized knowledge into the jobs of highly skilled workers" to make it
"so readily accessible that it can't be avoided."  Another is the key
involvement of experts in developing and contributing knowledge to a system
that is truly a life-and-death application.  The sophisticated nature of
this KM initiative will make this talk high-value to both practitioners and
students.

will look at KM in today's organization and determine where it stands - as
an urgent flashpoint, or integrated into the fabric of the organization as a
given.  It is in "stealth mode" - alive but renamed for the 21st century?
Are you doing it every day?  The summit will report on the current KM buzz.
