Online Competitive Intelligence (CI) Certificate. 

The Online CI Certificate, in its 4th year, begins on January 2, 2002. 

Deadline for registration is December 9, 2002. 

Have you faced an increase in research requests to help with some aspect 
of corporate strategy?  Have you been doing competitive intelligence for 
awhile, but would like to hone your skills and experience in this area? 
Has your organization decided to implement a Competitive Intelligence 
department, and asked you to lead this effort?  If you have answered 
"yes", then the Online Competitive Intelligence Certificate at Drexel 
University is for you. 

The Online Competitive Intelligence Certificate integrates the core skills 
and abilities of CI practitioners with the traditional research and 
synthesis skills of librarians.  CI practitioners and corporate partners 
from across the country were involved in developing content and analyzing 
student fieldwork.  The Certificate provides documentation of a level of 
awareness and evidence of ability for your portfolio.  The goals of the 
certificate are to prepare you to facilitate and coordinate the functional 
aspects of acquisition, analysis, delivery and protection of actionable 
intelligence that supports the strategic objectives of your organization. 

You will learn to: 

Analyze a situation and prioritize components of the problem 
Prioritize the work products to meet organizational needs 
Develop appropriate intelligence-gathering process and products to meet 
organizational needs 
Acquire appropriate data and identify the best techniques for the most 
cost-effective efforts possible 
Develop evidence-backed analysis and recommendations 
Present findings and recommendations in an effective manner to the 
target audience. 

The Online Competitive Intelligence Certificate consists of three modules: 

1)        Resources in Business ? Secondary environmental scanning 
2)        Information Services in Organizations - Internal strategic 
knowledge management 
3)        Competitive Intelligence ? Case-based CI (software, tools, and 
techniques)
