                             IFLA LIS Education in Developing Countries Special

                                     Interest Group (SIG) Satellite meeting

                                     August 12, 2015, University of Cape

                                        Town, Cape Town, South Africa



*      The satellite meeting is co-organized with Library and Information Studies Center, University of Cape Town, Cape Town, South Africa.

*      The special theme of this satellite meeting is Towards Harmonization of LIS Education in Developing Countries: Strategy and Leadership.



The main objectives of the satellite meeting are:

            *      Development of LIS Education in Developing Countries

*      Strengthening collaboration and networking among LIS Education in developing countries

*      Developing strategies and leaders of LIS education in developing countries



Format of the satellite meeting:



The satellite meeting will feature high-level LIS educators from Africa, Asia Oceania, Latin America and the Caribbean and colleagues from other parts of the world.



Papers will focus on:



*      LIS education program development

*      The state of LIS education in Africa, Asia Oceania, and Latin America and the Caribbean

*      Developing Standards for LIS education in developing countries

*      Course content

*      Levels of education

*      Networking



Guidelines for submission of paper



Proposals must address the theme of the satellite meeting in the following areas and must be original work of the author (s) and must include the following:



*      Title of proposed paper

*      Name (s) of author (s)

*      Official title of author (s)

*      Institutional affiliation

*      E-mail address, telephone/fax number

*      Abstract of the proposed paper (about 500 words) and five keywords

*      A short bio of author (s)



Length of paper and presentations:



Papers should be between 15-20 pages long, in a word file, times new roman. 12-point typeface including an abstract with clear recommendations derived from the content of the paper. 20 minutes will be allowed for oral presentation of the paper and 5 minutes for discussion. Satellite meeting paper review committee will review proposals.



Important Deadlines:



December 31, 2014             Submission of the abstract

February 15, 2015               Notification of acceptance/rejection

May 30, 2015                       Submission of full papers

June 30, 2015                      Submission of PowerPoint presentation slides
