Warm Greetings! The July 2011 issue of Information Technology in
Developing Countries is now available at:

The current issue of Information Technology in Developing Countries
carries articles that discuss the various applications of Change
Management Practices in Government Organizations and their practical
experiences in the field; There is a study on the ICTs: Connecting
Development Practitioners Leverage Knowledge with emphasis on the story
of Food and Nutrition Security Community of Practice through a survey
conducted to understand the food security levels in a village;
Information Technology is also extended to oversee the health of the
expecting mother and child in Aarogyam: ICT for Mother and Child Care;
article on ICT in Agriculture: Gaps and Way forward draws attention to
the gaps in the ICT initiatives.
The first article on Applying Change Management Practices in Government
Organizations: A view from the field by Vasudev Murthy & Dr. Vashima
Shubha discusses the change parameters which have different levels of
impact in government and private organizations. It also throws light on
how different communication plans and follow up techniques have to be
adopted to make the change in government organizations successful. This
is followed by the article ICTs: Connecting Development Practitioners
Leveraging Knowledge: story of Food and Nutrition Security Community
of Practice by Dr. Gopi Ghosh where he shares his insights gained from
the analysis conducted to understand the security levels of food and the
need for knowledge management to the farmers in growing pulses and
vegetables. The article also discusses how the project was implemented,
the challenges faced and its impact. The next article is on the
project Aarogyam: ICT for Mother and Child Care by Alok Tiwari. The
article talks about the need and effectiveness of the project
undertaken. The existing challenges in the system of disseminating
information and reminders to the rural villager of the various time
lines is highlighted, for both primary and complete health care of the
expecting mother and the new born child. This issue also carries an
article to the end on ICT in Agriculture: Gaps and Way Forward by Dr G
V Ramaraju, Dr. T.S Anurag, Dr. Hrishikesh Kumar Singh and Shambhu Kumar
discuss the problem areas identified in using various ICT initiatives
and the shortcomings in the usage of dissemination modes. The paper also
highlights the most preferred ICT and its features, which meet the
requirement of the farmers need for information.
Conference announcements includes International Conference on ICT as Key
Technology for the Fight against Global Warming and another on E
governance system in August-September, 2011 and a Conference on e
governance to be held in September 2011 in India.
