Organizational Setting
The International Nuclear Information System (INIS) and Nuclear Knowledge
Management (NKM) Section is located in the Department of Nuclear Energy.
INIS maintains a worldwide database of over 3 million bibliographic records
and 200 000 digital full-text documents on the peaceful use of nuclear
energy.

The Database Production and Imaging Group is part of the INIS and Nuclear
Knowledge Management Section. It is responsible for quality control of input
to the INIS database and provides imaging and digital preservation services
for the full-text documents made accessible through the INIS database.

The Group Leader reports to the INIS Unit Head and guides a team of several
staff members.

Main purpose
The Group Leader sets guidelines and ensures the quality of bibliographic
and full-text input to the INIS database, and accessibility. Additionally,
she/he plans and manages digitization activities.

Role
The Group Leader is (1) a specialist in quality assurance of record
processing and digitization; (2) an analyst of the latest advances in
information processing and digitization, and; (3) a developer of efficient
and effective information processing and digitization workflows.

Functions / Key Results Expected
    * Lead and supervise the Group in implementing tasks related to quality
control of bibliographic and full-text input and digitization activities.
    * Manage, review, and make recommendations regarding the planning and
prioritization of quality control.
    * Research, analyse and evaluate new applications of information
technology to digitization and make recommendations for their deployment.
    * Provide the programme requirements of the Group to the INIS Unit Head,
and take on general programme administration duties, as requested.
