Dear All,

This is a reminder that the Potomac Valley Chapter and SIG III have
teamed up for an important fundraising event to be held at the Kenyan
Embassy, 6-9PM, on Friday October 6th.

If you are in the DC area, consider attending this evening of fun and
help many colleagues from developing nations by allowing them to have
their voices heard in the global information scene.

If you cannot attend the event, you can help us by disseminating this
announcement to colleagues who are interested in the future of
international information professionals (they need not be ASIST
members). You can also help by donating whatever you can to help defray
some of the expenses.

Thank you for your support!

Nadia Caidi

==============

The Potomac Valley Chapter and International Information Issues Group of
ASIST have teamed up for an evening of fun at the Kenyan Embassy, 6-9PM
on Friday October 6th.

Why: to continue the support for the International Paper Contest, which
in seven years has received 270 papers from 323 authors (from and living
in) 51 developing countries. Many of these papers have been published as
a result in international journals, and proceeds from fundraisers, such
as this one, have paid 200 membership dues for these information
professionals, many of whom have also won travel grants to the ASIST
Conference.

Where: This year the fundraiser is an event to celebrate African culture
at the Kenyan Embassy, R St at Mass Ave NW. (Dupont Circle Metro, walk
North up R Street); located just past S Street on Mass Ave.; street
parking in neighborhood on S Street and in area).

What: The new Ambassador from Kenya has just arrived and will join us;
we will have drawings of fine African prizes, a silent auction, food and
drink, a dancer and African story telling.

How much $$: $25 in advance, $30 at the door

Or What else? If you cannot come, a donation of any amount (tax
deductible) would be greatly appreciated.

When Friday October 6, from 6-9PM.
