E-learning is playing an increasingly significant role in our
professional lives, either as a medium through which we learn, or as an
activity that our library services must support. The IFLA Professional
Committee, at the request of the Education and Training Section and the
Continuing Professional Development and Workplace Learning Section, has
approved the inclusion of a discussion session on e-learning in the IFLA
Conference programme.

LIS educators and practitioners are invited to submit proposals for
presentations that provide perspectives on how e-learning is
contributing to continuing professional education and development for
LIS, and its implications for the operation of library services.

Proposals may focus on, but are not limited to:

*	Library support for e-learners
* The role of e-learning in staff development
* Teaching and learning in the e-environment

The conference takes place in Buenos Aires, Argentina, August 21-29,
2004. The overall conference theme is "Libraries: Tools for Education
and Development".

No financial support can be provided, but a special invitation can be
issued to authors of accepted papers.

Papers must be submitted in one of the official IFLA languages (English,
French, German, Russian, Spanish).
