The following event will take place in Alexandria Virginia on May 15th. If you are in the area, please come and enjoy the "merrymaking." If you can't come, please support it by credit card. See the announcement below.

==========================
Great announcement! The ASIST PVC Chapter is having an extraordinary "International Bazaar and Merrymaking Evening" for members and friends in an absolutely beautiful setting on a patio overlooking the Potomac River! International music will fill the air.

See our web site and buy your tickets now. http://www.asis.org/Chapters/asispvc/may_15_2003/index.html

We're teaming up with SIG III and raising money to have fun, and to help pay hotel/food expenses for six ASIST international travel grant winners to go to the Long Beach conference in October, 2003. Here's who they are: http://www.asis.org/Chapters/asispvc/may_15_2003/scholars.html

 It's only $8.00 a ticket(!!!) for this very worthy cause (having a good time) and also enjoying the Bazaar; a raffle full of exciting prizes; and exciting international silent auction. Some of the items that will be sold to the highest "silent" bidder are:
Wooden giraffe sculpture from Kenya

Woven place mats and napkins from Guatamala

Chinese-made wooden fish (with moving pieces)

Mongolian snuff bottle, about 4 1/2 inches tall that is hand carved from a Yak horn.
Mongolian leather wall hanging with horses and horsemen painted on it.

Handmade aboalone placements from the Philippines

Set of paper kimono coasters from Korea

Large ornate wall hanging from Spain

Ornate jewelry chest from Egypt

Earrings from Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, MA, USA

A weekend at a private cottage (with boat) on quiet lake Shannondale, West Virginia in July or August (50 miles from the Beltway)

Let us hear from you!
