Hi all,

Sent this to John last week for a possible webinar topic and he suggested I share it with the rest of the group.

There has been significant heated discussion over the past five months or so among practicing librarians about professional ethics. Particularly since the Charlottesville riots. I've noticed it a lot on library social media (certain library Fb groups, Twitter) and some from ALA. I haven't seen that much from the LIS education or research community.

I also served on ALA's Professional Ethics Committee during 2016-2017. We spent a lot of time during Midwinter and Annual talking about how to respond to questions, concerns, and confusions from librarians. This definitely falls back onto questions of information ethics, library policy, separation (or not) of professional versus personal ethics. Anyway, just a thought.
