Senior IA x2 – Huge global financial services organisation – New Jersey - $100k

Hello everyone,

I have a new role(s) to brief you on, with a global financial services company (40,000 employees globally), to work in their long established user experience design group. They are looking for 2 senior information architects to join their brand new team based in New Jersey (right on the harbor, easy commute from Manhattan), in brand new offices. The roles will pay up to $100k for the right people.

The company have a long tradition of building great products, and without relying on external agencies. They have invested time and effort over the years in refining how their internal ‘agency’ works in tandem with the business, to craft great experiences for all the digital products, whether internally focused, or for consumers. The design team is composed of UX folks, visual designers, developers, and content strategists, all working closely with the product owners (who are at the coal face of the products, with the users, and help define the business cases and requirements for each project). Usability and testing specialists, working out of the fully equipped on-site usability lab, support the design team, and are integrated into the agile process.

Typical documentation created for projects are fairly typical; requirements docs (collected through workshops and stakeholder interviews), personas and user stories, user scenarios, mental models, wireframes (from sketch through to fully annotated), through to hi-fidelity comps, or functioning prototypes, all rapidly tested and iterated throughout the process.

The products themselves range from revisions and developments to the company’s .com presence (a complex beast, with a global user base, masses of content, as well as some complex web applications built in), to standalone desktop or web applications for specific financial functions and products, to marketing material for initiatives or new products. A broad spectrum, all with different users, wildly different requirements, and different challenges.

Client side design teams, especially with user experience as a component, can vary so wildly in how well integrated with the business they are, how well shielded they are from the politics and bureaucracy of the organization, how collaborative the teams are on projects, and ultimately, how satisfying your role is. This company have solved a lot of these problems, over years of trial and error, and are now in a position where their experience design team is well integrated and well respected, and can focus on the business of crafting the best possible experiences for their users.

Get in touch if you would like to know more about these roles.
