Calling User Experience Architects!!!

This opportunity would be great for someone who is looking for a better
work/life balance! Can you imagine yourself working near the coast in
Brighton? Being able to spend more time with the family, but still working
on projects for highly regarded clients? If this is a ‘yes’ then this
opportunity would be fabulous for you.

I am looking for a mid-weight consultant who is a little fed up on just
doing production work without any involvement in the strategy stage of UX
projects. This role will allow you to get involved in developing the
strategy that underpins the design deliverables.

This is not just any Agency. This is an Agency that values having a
excellent work /life balance. Some of you may breathe a sigh of relief at
this point! They are a traditional web design and build agency. With a team
of 85 people they have people working as front-end developers, designers,
back-end developers, project managers and content strategists. This is not
the sort of Agency that passes the deliverable on to 3rd party Agencies to
build; they do everything ‘in-house’.

Because they do everything ‘in-house’ it means you will work across the full
lifecycle of the project which is good for those of you who prefer a little
bit more longevity. You will be involved in pitching for new business,
facilitating workshops and working closely with stakeholders.

The agency invests in thought leadership by allocating a budget for you to
attend conferences and to get involved in HACK days in which a competition
is run where a client gives you 48hrs to develop a solution around a
problem. This is a great team exercise/competition to get the brain juices
flowing!

In terms of their strategic focus they were an Agency that focused on Public
Sector work, however in the light of the current economic circumstances;
they have sought to diversify their client base by focusing on pitching for
new clients in the Private Sector.

They recently won a pitch involving the re-design of a booking system for a
large e-commerce client. The project will involve improving the conversion
rates – currently £68 million of the booking system. If this objective is
achieved then the client will allow the agency to conduct a re-design of the
whole site which would be an excellent opportunity.

Internally will implement a workable Agile methodology. Although you can
probably relate to the challenges around incorporating UX / Design into the
Agile process they are keen to develop a workable way of doing so. They
believe that by doing so, they can conduct rapid Guerrilla testing methods
on Prototypes making life easier for everyone if changes need to be made.

The agency has an internal Lab with another Lab based in London. The work
culture is under-pinned by a vibrant atmosphere. They have been-bags,
whiteboards and loads of post it notes for you to brainstorm and produce
low-fidelity sketches. The guys there love to work collaboratively (yes I
know everyone says this, but these guys mean it!) They have cross-section
training lessons to teach each person what everyone else does in other
disciplines so that it improves collaborative work.

The team uses PC’s since they are more of a ‘.Net house’. However you would
use software tools such as Visio, Axure and in some cases Balsamiq. However
they say ‘output is the key’.

The ideal person is one who works agency-side but who perhaps wants to start
a family with a better work/life balance, or even someone who prefers to
work near the beach, or even someone who wants to have more responsibility,
or even prefers better fresh air (yes London is very polluted in comparison
to areas near the coast)!

Salary up to £40,000 (Remember this is an opportunity outside of London)!

If you see yourself working for an award-winning Agency, that offers an
excellent work/life balance near the sea, then give yourself a treat and
send your cv to me at dean at zebrapeople.com
