accept any format for dates (2 or 4 digit year inputs) but then convert =
to 4
digit year automatically (reference TurboTax.com for a great example). I
have never intentionally entered a 3 digit year to see what happens, =
though,
but it stands to reason that this would be filtered, as well, and prompt =
for
correction if it makes no sense to the system. Of course, it never hurts =
to
provide a text prompt that instructs the user on the year and format
required.=20
Finally, I'm not sure that I like sites that automatically tab me =
forward
after a month, date or year text entry. The user "script" for online =
forms
is that we tab between fields, so automatically moving me AND allowing =
me to
tab based on my script knowledge means that I end up at least 3 fields =
down
from where I expected to be, entering data in the wrong field. That's
aggravating.
Just my $.02

Subject: [Sigia-l] Year Field: Combo vs. Input Box
I'm curious about everyone's thoughts about the relative merits of using =
a
combo box versus a regular text input box for the input of a year (i.e.,
"1983").
