Job Title: SENIOR MANAGER, INFORMATION ARCHITECTURE

Marriott International, Inc., named by Fortune Magazine as one of the "100 Best companies to Work for in America", has an immediate opportunity for a Senior Manager, Information Architecture at its Corporate Headquarters in Bethesda, MD.

Expected Contributions and Responsibilities

Leads user experience vision at a program level. Examples of program areas include: Search & Reservations, Hotel Web Sites, B2B, and Personalization.
Assists in developing the Information Architecture discipline best practices, process and direction.
Collaborates with User Researchers, business sponsors and other related parties to clearly define and understand client insights and user needs.
Works with various stakeholders to create strategic user experience solutions for the program by best aligning business objectives, user needs and technological possibilities.
Works with eCommerce Project Managers and IT teams to address budget, scope and resource issues throughout the entire system development lifecycle and to ensure the success delivery of high quality online products and services.
Serves as the User Experience Lead for specific projects and assignments and coordinates multidisciplinary efforts.
Manages a small group of Information Architects and provides domain expertise and guidance as necessary on the daily operations. Ensures that team members maintain high standards set by the Information Architecture Director.
Responsible for hiring, mentoring and developing individual contributor IAs with subject matter expertise in the program area to meet team/business needs.

Specific Candidate Profile 
Specialized knowledge and skill in the IA and user experience disciplines.
Superior leadership, interpersonal, and customer relationship skills.
Superior problem solving and design solutioning skills.
Ability to distill and synthesize large amounts of complex information into intuitive user centric systems.
Extensive knowledge and experience of the Internet development process, branding, web analytics, qualitative and quantitative user research, and user-centered design.
Superior ability to manage multiple activities and stay organized in a dynamic environment.
Firm understanding of and ability to balance user, business, and technical needs at the program, project, and strategic levels.
Advanced understanding of Internet product development lifecycles and ability to assist in process.
Design experience in social media, mobile strategy, and complex transactional systems is highly preferred.
Technical background and programming experience is a plus.
Superior written and oral communication skills.


Education and Skills

Master’s degree preferred in the following fields: Information Architecture; Human Factors Psychology; Instructional Design; Interaction Design; or Library Science. Or 8+ years experience in related field.
Extensive experience with documentation and rapid prototyping tools such as: InDesign and iRise (preferred); Visio; Photoshop; Illustrator; Dreamweaver; Flash; and JavaScript.
Knowledge and experience in HTML5, PHP, CSS, JavaScript, Flash, Omniture Catalyst, and CMS systems.
