[Sigia-l] Adobe Flex, Fireworks, and Agile

What exactly do you want to know?

Flex is *by far* the fastest prototyping tool available for *complex* apps.

It'd be stupid to prototype *page-based* websites in Flex.

Flex 4's state, transition, effects and, most importantly, constraint-based layout capabilities are unrivaled.

For an *experienced* programmer + designer combo person without Flex bkg, it'd take at least 3-4 weeks to be productive.

Fireworks is the best vector+bitmap combo production tool available, which can now export in FXG format that Flex can use.

Catalyst is an intermediary tool on the FXG tool-chain between Flex and Fireworks that can add behavior/functionality to components/graphics created in Fireworks (or other CS5 tools).

Unless there's an experienced dev involved don't even think of creating custom components as described above.

If you don't know the Flex/Fireworks/Catalyst chain, it's not something you can pick up in a few days to provide insight, so I'd recommend you stay at least a layer of abstraction above the frameworks layer.

Agility is a vector of the mind, not the toolset, though the latter may help in some cases.
