Senior Information Architect / Senior UE Designer

NavigationArts (www.navigationarts.com)

Please send resumes to Kelley McDonald, Director of Information Architecture (kmcdonald at navigationarts.com)

This position reports directly to the Director of Information Architecture and plays a leadership role during the full lifecycle of client engagements, from sales to solution implementation. The Senior IA exhibits the seasoned judgment that can only come from experience with many different types of clients and projects, and the demonstrable expertise that can only be developed through sustained study and practice. This includes experience in user research, web strategy, information architecture, interaction design, content strategy, and the implementation of websites on CMS platforms.

People in this position are expected to be able to serve as the user experience lead on enterprise-level client engagements, which requires sustained and intimate interaction with client stakeholders, research and strategy formulation, solution generation, the “selling” of solutions to executive decision makers, and the effective translation of ideas to development teams for implementation.

Senior Information Architects are expected to be the primary points of contact for all things related to user experience, not only for client stakeholders, but other NavigationArts team members and any third-party groups that are contributing to a project. In this capacity, they should have the ability to anticipate potential issues and take action to avoid or ameliorate them. Finally, people in this position are expected to be able to innovate within constraints, applying their knowledge and experience to generate solutions tailored to unique requirements of each client.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Support all NavigationArts departments by providing user experience insight and expertise as needed. This includes sales support as well as support for technical implementations.
• Research, define, and prioritize the audiences that a solution or product is meant to serve.
• Elicit business and functional requirements by conducting interviews, focus groups, client working sessions, team brainstorming, and other activities.
• Translate requirements into concept models, site maps, wireframes, prototypes, and other documents aimed at depicting the optimal user experience for a product or solution.
• Conduct usability testing, quality assurance testing, focus groups, and other activities aimed at eliciting end user feedback on solutions or products.
• Serve as the point person for questions regarding content requirements and other input required by development teams to build a solution or product.
• Present ideas in a meaningful, persuasive, and concise manner for clients and team members.
• Collaborate with project managers, web developers, user interface designers, content authors, and others during all stages of the project lifecycle.
• Help focus team efforts and plan team tasks in order to keep projects within schedule and budget parameters.
