My client who is the largest on-demand global meetings management company in
the $300 billion global marketplace for corporate meetings and events.
Processing more than 3 million attendee registrations a year and delivering
over $7.5 billion in revenue opportunities annually to meeting suppliers,
they bring together buyers and suppliers of meeting-related services on an
unprecedented scale; delivering value through world class technology and
services to both audiences.  The kitchen is stocked, there's Friday
gatherings on the patio (can you say "happy hour") and company soccer games.
Product and engineering work closely together and there are about 300 people
total in the company across the US and off shore development.

 

Located in San Jose they are is seeking to fill 2 open positions in UX.  

 

1.       Manager of User Experience:  this role will be a hands
on/managerial role with 2-4 direct reports and requires 10+ years experience
in UI and Product design for the web.  Experience designing for Web 2.0
functions  and the capability to manage hiring/firing and performance
reviews as well as work hands on is critical.  Please refer to the UI Design

see the job description below for the UI Design position.  Salary is capped
at 115,000 with generous stock options.

 

2.       User Interface Designer: This role is capped at 105,000 with stock.

POSITION SUMMARY:   
As a core member of the Product Management Team, the UI / Web Designer
position involves working closely with Product Managers to identify project
requirements as well as members of the Engineering team to ensure proper
implementation of designs. A large emphasis is placed on creating a superior
user experience through constant product evolution and iteration, and
improvements to overall usability, information presentation and process
flow. 

QUALIFICATIONS: 
The UI / Web Designer must possess a broad knowledge of web graphic design
techniques and principles as well as advanced creative and visual design
skills (including color and page layout mastery). Extensive web UI
development and integration experience is highly desirable. 

Candidates must have a keen eye for detail and a strong desire for promoting
design consistency, as well as a passion for designing and building
compelling and usable customer-facing web interfaces (a passion for travel
can't hurt). In addition, the following skills are needed: 

 

.         Must possess a broad knowledge of information architecture and
interaction design principles as well as usability and UI design

.         Be able to create rapid iterations of visual and/or storyboard
concepts, as well as the ability to design for dynamic content (requiring a
solid understanding of the potential of DHTML and CSS as well as deep
knowledge of current web technology opportunities and limitations)

.         Extensive knowledge of UI design methodology and processes (user
centered and iterative design). Must be able to demonstrate, understand and
be proficiency in managing all phases of web product design and development

.         Excellent organizational skills and a demonstrated ability to
multitask and manage time efficiently. Must be able to self-manage as well
as work and collaborate with cross-functional groups, and also function as
both a project leader and individual contributor

*	Must possess excellent written and interpersonal communication
skills and be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the
organization
*	At least 3 years HTML/DHTML, Javascript and CSS skills. Experience
designing for Web 2.0 functionality (AJAX, etc) is desired
*	At least 2 years of UI design experience in a fast-paced development
environment with experience in consumer-specific software or web products.
Prior experience in the online travel industry is desirable
*	Portfolio of previous design work demonstrating experience
customer-facing design and user experience accomplishments (that can be
referenced)
*	Results-oriented: Exceptional time management and organizational
skills, including ability to accurately gauge project duration, deliver
quality results within deadlines
*	Quality: Ability to assume intellectual ownership and possess strong
attention to detail and commitment to delivering quality product
*	Collaborative: Ability to work with cross-functional teams and
synthesize cross-functional input, effective and comfortable in a
team/collaborative environment

EDUCATION:

BA/BS Degree or equivalent experience desired
