Senior User Experience Architect

To become even better, we are seeking an entrepreneurial Senior User Experience Architect to join the rapidly growing practice in our Los Angeles office. Senior User Experience Architects are responsible for conceptualizing, designing, and communicating user-centered design solutions for our customers. You’ll be a key contributor on cross-disciplinary teams which may include team members from our marketing, analysis, project management, visual design, business consulting, and technology practices. As the user-centered design expert on a given project, you’ll ensure that the most effective, innovative, and usable solutions are created for our customers. You’ll work with clients and end users to understand business requirements, user needs, business processes, and to present design concepts and deliverables, serving as the primary user advocate throughout the research, design and implementation process.
Core Responsibilities
* Contribute to the strategic acquisition, maintenance and enhancement of customer relationships through outstanding communication and project execution
* Work with clients to research and understand their business models and goals, creating design solutions which will further those goals
* Define the architecture, navigation, user flow/ experience, information and interaction designs that strategically, effectively and directly solve customer needs
* Select appropriate methods and create deliverables documenting information design concepts and solutions to meet project, schedule and budget constraints (may include personas, sketches, diagrams, process flows, wireframes, sitemaps, storyboards, and rapid prototypes)
* Represent the discipline, and Ascentium, in customer meetings and presentations
* Assist in sales and business development efforts as required, from requirements gathering and research to writing formal proposals and presentation materials
* Assist in developing the user-centered design community, its methods, and its cross-disciplinary expertise
* Be an advocate for the user
Qualifications
* Graduate degree (or equivalent) in Psychology, Human Factors, Library Science, Technical Communications, Anthropology, Interactive Design or related field.
* 7 or more years experience in a user-centered design role handling multiple projects simultaneously (and preferably in an agency/ consulting environment)
* A minimum of 3 or more years of direct Internet-related experience including the design of web sites and web applications or services as a web-based information architect, user interface/ experience/ interaction designer or analyst
* Solid background with the web and web technologies including a basic understanding of the technical options, systems and architecture which underlie dynamic websites
* Familiarity with conducting or overseeing some or all of the following: usability sessions, task analysis, heuristic evaluation,rapid prototyping, persona workshops, and other methods of user needs/ goals analysis
* Excellent visual, verbal and written communication with a demonstrated creative vision for organizing interactive systems
* Extremely detail-oriented and flexible with a proven ability to work with a multi-disciplinary team in a dynamic, collaborative environment with fast-paced development schedules
* Proven ability to quickly understand a customer’s business model and processes and then create effective, elegant, and usable design solutions depicting a strong knowledge of UCD practices, principles, issues, and techniques
* Proven ability to scope and deliver those solutions on time and within budget
* Comfortable with UX toolkit programs such as Visio and DreamWeaver, Microsoft office, Photoshop, Illustrator, inDesign, Intuitect, Acrobat, etc.
* Professionally active (ongoing professional reading, association memberships, listserv participation and/ or conference attendance) in groups such as IAI, ASIST (SIG-IA), ACM (SIG-CHI), IXDA, AIGA, etc.
* Portfolio presentation is expected, to include URLs of websites or samples of user interface design that reflect candidate’s work as well as documentation that led to the site, including wireframes, site maps, navigation flows, interaction design specs, etc.
