Well, there's that black-hole side to this as well. (Apple) Knowledge
Navigator, two decades later, still hasn't been fully realized. Pen
computing: ditto. Speech UI: MSFT spent billions in R&D and not much to show
for it. 3D gaming: XBox leads with loss of double-digit billions over the
years. Second Life is VRML warmed over: a 20-year old lunch. Sony DataFiles
demoed over half a decade ago. And so on.

The likely merchandisers of this technology, Japan and other Asian CE
industries seem to be not terribly infected with multi-touch and other
haptic novelties. What's up with that?
