This issue of job requirements come up on another listserv I am on...
particularly around 2 jobs being advertised at John Hopkins right now. One
is for an "Internet Information Architect" (don't even get me started on the
job title!). In this case, it seems they may not know exactly what they
want and so they threw in everything. I did get a chuckle from the phrase,
"public Internet."

business plans and market research studies in support of specific client
directions and initiatives. Provides consultation, coordination, and/or
staff support to various strategic committees and programs.

communications, technical communications, human-computer interaction or an
equivalent field. Knowledge: Expert knowledge of Microsoft Office products,
Visio, Illustrator, Photoshop; HTML. Proven ability applying user-centered
design techniques to Web development, ranging from large, complex sites with
sophisticated organizational and navigational structures to improving and
streamlining scenarios within sites, such as e-commerce traffic flows and
search engine interfaces.
Work Experience: Minimum five years experience in designing user interface
and graphics for web-based applications including corporate Web sites,
Intranets, online catalogs, extranets and information based sites for both
consumer and business to business customers. Experience with Content
Management Systems a plus. Functional design background preferred."
