To that end, I've performed numerous usability tests for over seven
years. Folks typing URLs into Google is far more common than you'd
think.
My theory is this behavior stems from a general lack of training on
browsers. We self train and it's farily easy to master a browser in a
short period of time. If a solution works (such as typing URLs into
Google), we keep doing it, even if it's not the most efficient method.
I've pointed out to several people that this method, "isn't actually
how you find websites" and am met with mild resistance. "Well, it
works for me and this is how I do it." Who am I to argue?
