A very tounge-in-cheek summary is, in my experience, that a BA is
perfect for big-bang development (waterfall, et cetera) while IA are
more prone to agile development (shorter iterations, prototyping),
approching the problem/challenge from two different angles. But then.
I've met exceptions in both camps as well.
