Well, anything needless is needless, right?

But frippery (if you mean decoration) is good and I heavily use
(what I call) functional decoration in my own & client sites
(= decoration hijacked to support way-finding).

I think my point was that decoration must never be ambiguous in
its intent or you just waste people's time (or give them
indigestion, in Ramsay's case). So, on a plate of food,
decoration could be a design on the plate itself. Or, on a web
site, if a decorative element has a drop shadow or a bevelled
edge, or if it's next to a similar but clickable element,
you're just asking for trouble.

Seems obvious, eh. I just don't get how Ramsay expected
people to know to ignore the seaweed. And I suspect people
in other domains still create these design problems.
