I joined Facebook last week - it's the first social
networking web site I've used in earnest. (I used
sixdegrees.com in 1999 but only as a place for chat.)

Facebook has its pros and cons (I'd love to use the
SIG-IA group to critique it as a case study) but I
am realising that the value of these online places
comes down to the quality of the members and the
quality of the conversations.
