Huh? I do this *all* the time. I frequently ignore research and 
usability testing results. Both only represent a tiny part of the design 
picture. I dislike nothing more than a usability tester who says 'We 
observed x, you should do y.' I only want to know about what they 
observed - they don't know the whole context, constraints, goals etc so 
they don't get to do the design ;)

But I can do this because of my experience, and because of my 
experience, I don't have to post these types of questions. I'm sure 
there are plenty of good IAs and UX designers doing exactly this, with 
no need to come to the surface on a mailing list...
