Excellent article extolling the virtues of using basic principles of  
animation (among other things) in UI design. For those of you who  
didn't minor in film animation, I highly recommend working through  
the exercises in at least one of the following classic texts. They'll  
change your approach to workflow in UI design, and not just in a  
decorative way:
