POSITION:   Interaction Designer / Usability Engineer
TYPE:       Contract Position
LOCATION:   Waltham & Boston, MA, USA
CONTACT:    michelle.vincow at verizon.com (Project lead)

Verizon Labs is seeking an interaction designer/usability engineer (contract
position: 6 - 9 months with possibility of extension) to design, prototype,
and evaluate Verizon Business portal web applications. This work spans both
telecommunications self-service applications used by our large business
customers, including billing, ordering, and repair, as well as internal
applications that provide a unified and integrated web interface to numerous
systems.

This position provides extensive opportunities for hands-on design within
the constraints of global UI guidelines and an established visual style. We
are looking for someone who is highly analytical and comfortable with
technical detail. A key challenge of this position is synthesizing highly
technical, abstract information into a useful, usable interface.

- Bachelors or Masters Degree in human-computer interaction or a related
field is preferred.
- At least 1-year of experience required. Junior and senior-level candidates
welcome.
- Thorough knowledge/experience with user-centered design is required.
- You should have at least basic knowledge of HTML/CSS and be able to use a
tool like Dreamweaver to create HTML prototypes.

We work within a 40-member User Centered Design (UCD) Group in Verizon
Laboratories. The UCD Group serves as a center of excellence for Verizon's
user-centered approach to the definition, design, development, and
evaluation of new products and services.  An ideal candidate would be able
to spend approximately 3 days a week in downtown Boston (Post Office Square)
and 2 days in Waltham (negotiable).

Please provide resume, cover letter, hourly rate requirements, and
availability to michelle.vincow at verizon.com.
