Here's some more: we ran a user test five months ago with 24 people
(18-65, using Internet more than 3 times a week, even male/female split)
using various (currently live) travel sites to book holidays on line.
Out of curiosity, we set their browser window to open at 800x600 (on a
1024x768 screen). Only half of the users re-sized it in the 1.5 hour
test, those that did all went full screen either immediately or shortly
after they had use of the browser.

We took this to indicate that at least some users choose not to browse
full screen, so automated screen resolution stats can be misleading
unless those stats are showing *browser window* size.
