Yes - thanks Skot. I would tend to agree. When you design a website you
could have an optimum range of widths in mind (which is probably between
800 & 1024 pixels) - within which you would design your pages on those
practical considerations. But every page should degrade gracefully as
people move further away from that optimum.

There are still practical considerations of placement control,
readability, and usability to consider. These non-technical reasons may
make choosing a fixed width a better choice.
