Personally, I prefer locations where walking to your mailbox doesn't  
require special protective gear for four months a year. That's why  
I'm now in Seattle, where the winters are mild enough for most purposes.

BTW, Cat-5 hurricanes have historically been very rare in my  
hometown, Savannah, and not too surprisingly, the older parts of town  
are sheltered under a canopy of hundred-foot tall live oaks, which  
are particularly good at surviving lesser storms.  The architecture  
in the old town also tends to be both sturdy and quite beautiful, and  
would make a good setting for a design office.

On the other hand, most of the natives don't speak English. I myself  
picked up the language while watching American TV broadcasts.
