The conflict between users and purchasers of technology rears its usual head
in the form of a latest exchange between Anil Danish and John Siracusa
regarding the perennial question of whether Apple should focus on the
enterprise:

bition.html>
Even if you can delight enterprise users is that sufficient reason to get
into bed with the orifices (as Jobs would call it) who do the purchase?
Is it possible for Apple to enter into a universe where the first question
about its new Numbers app is, "is it fully compatible with Excel?"
regardless of the fact that it changes spreadsheet presentation paradigm?
Does Keynote matter at all if its PowerPoint compatibility is infinitely
more interesting to the enterprise than its font rendering, cinematic
transitions, easy builds, etc?
When it comes to imagination, is it any longer possible to bridge the gap
between enterprise and consumer software?
