[Sigia-l] platforms where digital solutions exist

Your list starts from a solid base... internet-web, intranet, mobile,
TV & film, kiosk.

Another large and complicated category is vehicular digital solutions.
Eric hinted at it. The range of tasks is really broad (navigation,
entertainment, sensors, communications, weapons, etc.); the range of
use scenarios is also broad (oil tankers, luxury cars, military
vehicles, passenger jets, spacecraft, etc.); and the human UI options
are more diverse than any of the other categories mentioned (voice,
touch screen, dedicated buttons, multi-function buttons, and dozens of
unique custom controls - like the steering wheel or the flight stick).
Also, the R&D that goes into vehicular human interfaces is
considerable, largely thanks to the aerospace and defense industries.
(Anyone on the list from Lockheed Martin?)

I would also recommend adding a separate category for video games.
Like vehicles, video games offer an incredibly broad range of 'tasks'
(often mimicing vehicles, conveniently) but they do it with a single
set of multi-purpose controls. A user can operate a helicopter,
automobile or spaceship with equal aplomb using the dual joysticks and
11 buttons on an Xbox or PS3 controller. And PC gamers have the full
flexibility of a keyboard and mouse - hundreds of separate
customizable controls - at their disposal. It isn't the most effective
interface in most cases but it is the most efficient.
