I'd find this approach fundamentally limiting. The future belongs to systems
where input/output as well as data/logic/interface are abstracted/separated.

To cite one obvious example: Apple's FrontRow can conceivably be operated by
a mouse, click wheel, stylus, finger, multi-touch or voice. While it
normally serves rich media, it can be made to serve data, news, etc. It can
be run on desktop or notebook PCs, all manner of mobile devices, TV
peripherals, an so on.

Indeed, the power of 'digital' is its inherent malleability across physical
boundaries, but I digress.
