[Sigia-l] The story of "uh?"

The arts have gone all web2.0-y.

I happened to visit the web sites this week of the British
Museum's and the ICA (Institute of Contemporary Art).

I was surprised at the useful AJAXy stuff on the British
Museum's site - there is a thumbnail browse interface
similar to Flickr's. I think it works well:
  http://www.thebritishmuseum.ac.uk/

But the ICA home page has a head-exploding design:
  http://www.ica.org.uk/Homepage+1.twl

(Besides the very weird URL,) What's with the different
colour backgrounds? Do the different colours mean
anything? They seem to have used lightness to denote
hierarchy but it's not consistent on Films. And is it a
good things that items aren't laid out on a grid?

I was, however, pleased to see RSS feeds for upcoming
exhibitions, events and talks.

Anyway, London SIG-IA-ers might be interested a talk at
the ICA: "Friendship in the Digital Age" 27 Sept 2007

Shame about the URL:
http://www.ica.org.uk/Friendship%20in%20the%20Digital%20Age+14905.twl
