Sorry if I caused some confusion by not clarifying the conference/ 
speaker/non-attendance/unpleasant crazies thing enough.

What's happened to Kathy (who has an amazing mind that the user  
experience world is missing desperately through her decision to not  
continue her blog) is deeply upsetting to those who know her and  
those (like me) who admire her.  Tara's attendance at GOVIS in New  
Zealand, as I said, was as a hand-picked replacement for Kathy.
