I quickly skimmed over that presentation, and if I'm not mistaken, much of
her musings over innovation focus on Scott Berkun's recent book, which is
waiting to be read on my desk.
There's quite a bit of literature on how to invent/innovate, methodologies,
team structures, implementations, etc. My interest in innovation lies
elsewhere: why and when not to innovate, especially in packaging technology
for desired UX outcomes.
In paraphrasing that most innovative company called Microsoft, "What do you
want to innovate today?" is the wrong start, regardless of what approach one
takes to innovation Tara and others describe. Designers often regard
innovation as their ultimate goal, often instinctually and whether or not it
solves a/the fundamental problem.
