[Sigia-l] Bibit payment system

Hi All

My travel client is thinking of adopting a new payment system called
Bibit (www.bibit.com) that will allow them to deploy appropriate
payment methods in different markets across the world. Bibit will
soon require an additional security code in order to transact online
- I guess this is the same as the new 'online only' codes that Amex,
Mastercard, Visa have been asking / telling customers to sign up for.

In theory this is good - it will increase perception of security and
reduce the fees that they pay per transaction - but my client is
concerned that it will introduce an extra step to the payment
process. My guess is that this extra step is a one off (to register)
and that, pretty soon, all the major cards (Amex, Visa) will be doing
it anyway so it will soon become expected?

Unfortunately my client is also very concerned that the technology
"just won't work" and hence will make it "impossible to use your card
online." It's difficult for me to respond to that because it's a
strong belief that he holds / fear that he has, and I have no data -
just an absence of proof that he's worrying unnecessarily :)

Do you have any experience of Bibit, or similar approaches to
security being adopted by Amex, Visa etc? Do you have any info you
can share to reassure him or to tell me I should worry about this?

Thanks a million
- Stewart
