Good.

Software is designed too and so I guess you mean UX or
graphic designers. In which case, yes, programmers
sometimes need designers (not all software has a user
interface). And designers (of web sites that do anything
interesting) need programmers.

However, sites like the original uie.com and w3c.org
demonstrate that content alone is enough to make a popular
web site, no matter how clueless they are about design
(in any sense of the word) or branding.

And there are complex web sites which had no input from UX
of graphic designers but still manage to be successful (eBay
is still poorly Designed).

That said, I think each department is indispensable. But
negative generalisations about programmers just widen the
rift all too painfully present in project teams.
