[Sigia-l] loooooong buttons

Hi,

We have been moving away from the OK/Cancel model of button labeling
and toward using descriptive language. So far this is working quite
well and we're seeing usability improvements. However, a side-effect
of this is that we're beginning to get proposals for very long
buttons. Oftentimes it turns out that these shouldn't really be
buttons but should instead be links and I don't tend to have as much
heart burn about long link labels.

My gut feeling isn't super happy about these long buttons, but I don't
know if that's just a personal thing or if there is a legitimate
concern. Does anyone know of any research on button
length/size/labels? Have opinions?

The issue in question is two buttons side by side:

"Print Summary" | "Print Summary & Sources"

Thanks,
Samantha
