If in fact they do that and they succeed, is that so wrong?
In other words, if the searchbox is doing double duty as an infinitely (and
perhaps dynamically) malleable, one-stop navigation device, where's the
harm? Especially considering the fact that one can only squeeze in a
relatively small number of explicit links on a page, but the searchbox can
lead to an infinite number of destinations. Furthermore, one can parse
whatever is entered therein and make contextual rerouting decisions
procedurally. Sort of like the Google searchbox, offering a myriad of
services from weather to calculator stock quotes to DNS to spellchecking to
plain old search: one box, no explicit links, 20 billion destinations.
