Up to now, member parrticipation has been entirely self-initiating
with little to no guidance.

I've been working on a welcome packet for new IAI members that tries
to do several things:

1. Pull new members into the community by explicitly inviting them to
join discussions on the member list and other IAI related communities
like the IA wiki and Boxes and Arrows.

2. Urging them to use IAI services by plugging the mentor program, the
job board, local groups, Design Tools, and the IA Library.

3. Informing them about other services like the directory, conference
discounts, the newsletter, and account management.

Hopefully, we'll see the 'welcome packet' soon, and membership won't
seem quite so abstract.
