Nn my experience it seems to come and go in waves. I've been with
flickr for a few years, and it all starts out with "how can I tag this
so others would find it useful", to "how can I tag this so I can find
it useful", to some bare minimum tag because I couldn't be bothered
(my pics aren't that important :), to almost give up on tags because
all the interesting pictures I find through people I know and the
groups. I rarely search for tags.

These days, the only tags I do find useful are the community ones. For
example, my own Library of Australia has a Flickr community which
helps us with contemporary images ;

community tags to grow.
