Paula, good to see you again! I hope all is well.
I must agree. I haven't worked in IA in years but as a systems
administrator and IT Manager for marketing and educational institutions,
I have to wear several hats when it comes to planning and executing web
projects. I am the IA, User Research expert, Business Analyst and
Engineer all rolled in to one. I haven't been on this list and remained
a lurker for 6 years because I am looking for pristine IA discussion but
because I want to learn how others in the field are solving real
business problems that relate to IA-oriented topics.
To me IA is the practice of implementing the psychology of design and
interaction. And since psychology and design are such broad and hotly
debated topics, I don't expect IA to be any different. I appreciate the
work others have taken to define IA and create communities and
organizations around the practice and craft of IA but I don't believe
that gives anyone ownership and censor rights to the entirety of it.
Just my 2 cents.
