Customer-facing sites are largely about perception of a product, brand,
etc. Marketing is usually a major stakeholder in these projects and ...
well who doesn't know that the sexiest people in the company work in
marketing?

Sure there's a user-centered design element if you can get the client to
buy into that, but for the most part customer-facing sites are evaluated
much the same as advertising, and with about the same amount of
accuracy.

Enterprise sites are usually focused on solving a business problem which
can usually be defined much more clearly that what's going on inside the
head of a consumer.

Enterprise sites rarely have to "dovetail with the current customer
brand experience".

Enterprise sites are like building or renovating your garage or
basement, as opposed to adding a new porch, deck or painting your house.

But I'm sure that the members of this list form the bulk of the 5% who
actually get aroused at the prospect of overhauling an Intranet or
corporate taxonomy.
