The position is a user experience generalist with SRA's user centered
design team.  The team is responsible for information architecture,
interaction design and usability testing of Web sites, applications
and intranets for a range of government customers.  Team members
direct the user experience design of our customers' products, working
closely with project managers and technical leads.  Team members have
customer contact frequently.  The successful candidate will have
experience with the information architecture of large content-rich Web
sites, with the interaction design of Web-based applications, and with
user research.  We are especially interested in candidates with
experience working with metadata, controlled vocabularies, and/or
business process data.

The team has a wide range of user experience and information
architecture projects.  Members of the team usually work on one large
and a couple small projects at a time.  Depending on qualifications
and interests, position may also lead to project work in business
process analysis, metadata development, data architecture,
requirements analysis, and project management.

Daily responsibilities

Conduct user research to determine user needs, user expectations, and
product usability. Perform user goal and task analysis to build
personas, scenarios, requirements, and test scripts. Facilitate
customer and internal stakeholder meetings for requirements gathering.
Coordinate the design and implementation in development teams, acting
as the user advocate and product champion on every team. Create and
present customer-facing deliverables such as user research reports,
sitemaps, and wireframes. Create and present developer-facing work
products, such as taxonomies, metadata schemas, navigation schematics,
and page flows.

Provide user advocacy on projects.  Create user experience research
and design roadmaps for projects.  Work with project manager and
technical lead to create project plans.  Run user research and
testing.  Coordinate with developers to ensure user centered design
throughout the lifecycle.

Must be a compelling communicator.  Lead meetings to elicit business
goals and requirements.  Present research findings and design
solutions.  Communicate concerns and recommendations early and often.
Present polished deliverables to internal teams and customers.
