Description: 

Usability Architects are responsible for insuring the success of
Enterprise’s websites and web applications to meet business goals by making
them useful and usable. They are also responsible for identifying areas of
opportunity for our applications, conducting appropriate investigation, and
finding solutions while understanding and justifying the business benefits
of these activities. Usability Architects develop innovative and
cost-sensitive solutions that take into account the various perspectives
brought to project: users’ goals, business goals, appeal and branding, and
technical feasibility. 

The Usability Architecture Group, in line with the culture of Enterprise
Rent-A-Car, favors entrepreneurial individuals who are self-starters and
driven, possess outstanding people skills, work ethic, and salesmanship.

Usability Architects are a part of the User Experience Group, along with
Product Management, Visual Design, and UI Software Engineering. The User
Experience Group is a separate but equal partner with development teams
within the Information Systems (IS) Department.  

Required Skills: 

Skills and documented experience in applying HCI methods in (but not limited
to) the following areas: 
•         Minimum three (3) years experience applying Human-Computer
Interactions (HCI) methods to web-based systems. 
•         Must have solid understanding of web-related technologies.
•         Researching and articulating descriptions of users' tasks and work
environments by selecting and applying the appropriate techniques. 
•         Developing workflows and detailed page layouts that reflect a
correct interpretation of users, business operations and goals, and systems
requirements. 
•         Identifying opportunities for innovations, and developing
innovative solutions to evolving business problems.
•         Planning, conducting, and summarizing usability studies, as well
as using web analytics tools.
•         Identifying environmental and competitive factors that can
positively impact our business.
Education requirement: 
Advanced degree (MS/MA minimum) in human factors engineering, human-computer
interaction, cognitive psychology, industrial engineering, or similar field.

Candidates must meet or exceed all minimum criteria above.

Required Non-technical skills: 

Applicants to this position will have to demonstrate outstanding proficiency
in the following soft skills:
•         Self-starting, go-getting attitude.
•         Ability to quickly “read” a corporate culture, and adapt to it.
•         Ability to foster innovative solutions that are ultimately
measurable by an actual implementation, and concrete business results.
•         Salesmanship i.e. the ability to propose design ideas to a team
including business sponsor, product manager, project manager, technical
lead, and help the team negotiate the best decisions.
•         Ability to network, understand how decisions are made, and
influence those decisions. 
•         Outstanding work ethic.
•         Ability to make successful strategic and tactical design
recommendations based on usability findings and standard design practices. 
•         Must have sound judgment and be able to work without supervision.
•         Must be able to develop new approaches to complex design problems
while meeting aggressive deadlines.
