Dead on what?
There's nothing in that brief blog entry to refute the notion that Yahoo's
goal is no longer to be #1 in search. There wasn't a whole lot of
equivocation in the original Yahoo pronouncement:
"We don't think it's reasonable to assume we're going to gain a lot of share
from Google," Chief Financial Officer Susan Decker said in an interview.
"It's not our goal to be No. 1 in Internet search. We would be very happy to
maintain our market share."
That's pretty clear and it comes from, not a guy who happens to sit next to
Caterina at Yahoo however sharp as he may be, but from the CFO of the
company. Incidentally, I haven't seen a strong official denial from Yahoo,
have you?
