This implies that science and design are (or rather should be) mutually
exclusive. Strange position
for someone who (I assume from reading numerous posts) promotes a holistic
approach to problem solving.
There are many types of scientists, ranging from pure theoriticians thinking
about the first 2 nanoseconds
after the Big Bang to people with their feet in the mud of applied science,
like, he, design and engineering
of user interfaces / user experiences.
Equally, there are many types of designers, ranging from highly specialized
artistic designers to those
that are more involved in solving wider problems in the area of innovation
management.
>From these simple examples it stands to reason that design and science
largely overlap.
There are people active in these overlapping areas and probably enjoying it
and obviously successful at it.
And then there are people observing this, probably not happy about this and
obviously frustrated about it
crying out which field should "have right" to this overlapping area....
