[Sigia-l] WINDS relation browser

People, there are two salient facts about WINDS that seem to have been
missed:

"The demo above was created in order to demonstrate ..."

So it's a DEMO. Datasource, inaccuracies, incomplete info, etc., aren't the
point.

As well, the architecture for expansion/modification/etc is fundamentally
there:

"Since the import format is a generic XML-file, and both icons and
interaction functionalities are well-seperated from the rest of the code, an
adaptation to new domains is easily possible."

So it's adaptable and expandable.

Now, great suggestions have been made as to how it could become more
informative. That's good, but there's one aspect of WINDS that's superior:
agility. It's very lightweight, quick and to-the-point. Has anyone seen a
better relationship browser in that regard?

Remember, perhaps the two most obvious attributes of similar (hyperbolic/
star tree) relationship browsers are that they are a) complex and b) seldom
used.

Examples:

<http://www.visualthesaurus.com/tour/>

Needless to say WINDS doesn't solve all potential problems of relationship
navigation, but in the narrow range it tries address it does a respectful
job of delivering quick results, cleanly and understandably.

Where's the Google Map mash-up anyway? :-)
