If you are looking for metadata management software, you might want to look
at schemalogic's schemaserver (www.schemalogic.com). If Gary Carlson is
lurking on this listserv, he can tell you more about it. This product can
manage metadata schemas and controlled vocabularies.

Subject: [Sigia-l] maintaining a content inventory

A client has asked us to recommend a software solution for the ongoing
management of the data from a content inventory. This data is not just "per
page", but is to include any sub-assets (eg. photos or maps, content links),
and is to also include a raft of classifications across multiple thesauri
(eg. subject codes, ASIC industry codes, AGLS schema).

The content inventory data is to ultimately be used to manage a content
migration to a new site (from multiple disparate sites), and to track any
content changes post-inventory and pre-migration.

I'm betting there is nothing much "off the shelf" here. Have you heard of
anything suitable?
